I'm blogging again now?

Having taken a slight leave of my senses, I have made 2 appointments at the very useful Winchester Writers' Conference in July. All sounding quite sensible so far? These are with an editor and an agent. Still sounding like a good idea? Now for the more interesting bit. I will be discussing my current novel, the one that's currently 11,500 words long...

So now you've stopped laughing I'll explain. I have to send the first three chapters and a synopsis by June 5th. It has to be finished by the time I see them the first week of July. Maths never was a particular talent of mine, but that does seem rather a lot of words a week. Especially considering this has got to be far from a first draft, but a polished competed work. Nothing like a deadline for motivation...

My state of delusion has led me to start writing about it here too. So wish me luck, or come along for the ride, but I shall attempt to keep this page updated on my (speedy, oh please) progress over the next few weeks. It seemed like such a good idea last week.

Let the chaos begin!

Hurrah you're here!

And no, you're not mad, you've got a goal - one which you'll achieve. How many words per week?

I'll be cheering from the sidelines and my pointy stick can be brought out of semi retirement:-)

I'd watch out for that Lane - she's a devil with that pointy stick. Glad to see you blogging again and all the very best of luck with the challenge! I'll be keeping an eye on you - and look forward to seeing you at Winchester. Go for it, girl.

Welcome back to blog land. That time thief has been at it again!

You certainly know how to pile the pressure on yourself, don't you? Whatever works though, right? I'm sure you'll achieve your goal. Good luck with the editor and agent when the time comes.

I've been looking at the WWC details and it seems a bit scary!

Lane - every time I work out a number of words per week I start by going slightly pale, then wonder if I've left myself enough time to edit it so the word count goes up again! I've decided to spend less time counting and more time writing! Pointy stick may be required...

Lorna - Thank you for the encouragement! I quite agree, Lane can be fearsome with that stick...

Captain - It's not scary, it's lovely! I always get such a buzz from being there. It's only the acutal appointments that are terrifying, though the 2 people I saw last year turned out to be far friendlier than some of the tales I heard later! Book it, you'll have a great time.

Ooh, I say :oO I've set myself a June deadline for mine, but there's no agent scrutiny at the end of it (yet!) Very best of luck - you can do it :o)

MotherX - Oh my god is definitely the phrase!

Karen - Come to the conference, share my crazy deadline! Hope yours is going well too.

You can do it Denise. Just believe in yourself. Could you take some days annual leave?
